1.
Locate the rubber cover (imprinted with the USB logo) on the barrel of the pen, gently lift the
rubber cover, and then attach the micro-USB cable (1) that came with your tablet to the pen.

Plug the cable into the AC adapter, and then plug the AC adapter (2) into an electrical outlet.
The power status light will glow amber to indicate that the pen is charging.
Waking the HP Duet Pen
The pen initiates Sleep after approximately 40 seconds of inactivity.
To exit Sleep:

Touch the ink-pen tip to paper or touch the stylus tip to the tablet.

▲
Press the pen’s function button.
Pairing the HP Duet Pen
IMPORTANT:
Charge the pen for at least two hours before use.
Wake the pen and turn on your tablet. If you are using the tablet for the first time, HP Duet Pen
Pairing launches automatically.
NOTE:
Be sure that you use the stylus tip, not the ink-pen tip, during pairing. For instructions on
accessing and changing the tip, see
Changing the pen tip on page 34
.
NOTE:
If HP Duet Pen Pairing does not launch automatically, use Settings to launch pairing. Swipe
down twice from the top edge, and then touch the Settings icon
. Under Device, touch HP Duet
Pen, and then touch Pair a HP Duet Pen.

At the HP Duet Pen Pairing screen, select START.

Touch the target with the pen until the HP Duet Pen Successfully Paired message appears.
TIP:
An HP Duet Pen notification appears in the notifications area when the HP Duet Pen app is set
to On. To turn the app off, touch the notification, and then slide the HP Duet Pen switch to the left.
