Replacement procedure
CAUTION:
Before you remove an active MPU when the router is operating, you must use the
reboot
command to
reboot the active MPU to change its status to standby. You can use the
display device
command or view
the LEDs to verify the status of the active MPU. For more information about the MPU LED description, see
"Appendix B LEDs." For more information about the
reboot

To replace a card:
1.
Loosen the captive screws on the card.
2.
Move the ejector levers outwards to separate the card from the backplane.
3.
Slowly pull out the card along the slide rails. Put the removed card in an antistatic bag or in its
original shipping materials.

Move the ejector levers on the front panel of the new card outward. Hold up the card by one hand
without touching any electronic components on the card, and hold the front panel by the other
hand to slowly push the card into the slot along the slide rails.
5.
Push the ejector levers inward to ensure a firm contact between the card and the backplane.
6.
Finger-tighten the screws into the holes and fasten them with a screwdriver to fix the card.
IMPORTANT:
•
Fasten the screws of each card (as shown in step 6) right after you have inserted it.
•
To avoid any damage to the card, gently pull and insert the card.
