Set the TIA to Collect Actual Data
Select File>Use live data.
The synthetic data selection is used for demonstration purposes, as
described in Chapter 3. Remember to perform this step when you want to
start making measurements with the TIA.
Send Request for Identification
A convenient way to test the interface with the TIA is to send a request for
the TIA to identify itself. Once you have started the TIA software, select
Control>Service>SCPI Control of E1740A.
1 Enter the following command in the Send box: *IDN?
2 Press Enter key or click on the Send button.
The E1740A should return the following ASCII response:
HEWLETT-PACKARD,E1740,0,xxxx
• HEWLETT-PACKARD is the manufacturer.
• E1740A is the model number of the VXI TIA.
• 0 is always returned.
• xxxx is the HP E1740A firmware version.
