Post Installation: Configure Compute Server for VMware vCenter
In order to properly configure vCenter to manage the power of the compute blades, each compute host’s iLO
information must be entered into VMware vCenter.
Procedure
1 Connect to the compute server’s HPE iLO and navigate to Information > System Information > Network
to gather the MAC address of the server iLO.
Note
Before you can set the IPMI/iLO power management setting, you must have the MAC address for
the HPE iLO, which is listed in the Adapter 1 – iLO section. In this procedure, it is referred to as
<<mac_address>>.
2 Select the first compute server in the <<vcenter_prod_cluster_1_name>> and navigate to Manage >
Settings > System > Power Management.
3 To the right of IPMI/iLO Settings for Power Management, click Edit.
4 Enter the following information, and then click OK:
•
User name: admin
•
Password: <<blade_ilo_admin_password>>.
•
BMC IP address: << enclosure_1_ebipa_bay1_ip>>.
•
BMC MAC address: <<mac_address>>.
5 Repeat this procedure for all of the other compute blades.
Post Installation: Configuring Compute Server for Storage
After the servers are configured in each of the clusters, you can connect the servers to the Nimble Storage
array and provision datastores to them.
Gather the WWN of the Compute Server from OneView
This procedure is necessary at this point only if you have not previously completed this procedure for the
compute host to which you are presenting storage.
Procedure
1 Open a web browser and connect to the HPE OneView Web Administration Portal.
2 From the top left corner, select HP OneView > Server Profiles.
3 Click Server_Profile_<<enclosure_1_blade_bay_1_hostname>>.
4 Click Connections and record the MAC addresses that are associated with the connections to SAN_A
and SAN_B.
The following figure provides an example of the information to capture.
