Parameters
1
: Specifies the RIP version as RIPv1.
2
: Specifies the RIP version as RIPv2. RIPv2 messages are multicast.
Description
Use
version
to specify a global RIP version.
Use
undo version
to remove the configured global RIP version.
By default, if an interface has a RIP version specified, the RIP version takes effect; if it has no RIP
version specified, it can send RIPv1 broadcasts, and receive RIPv1 broadcasts and unicasts, and
RIPv2 broadcasts, multicasts, and unicasts.
If an interface has an RIP version specified, the RIP version takes precedence over the global RIP
version.
If no RIP version is specified for the interface and the global version is RIPv1, the interface inherits
RIPv1, and it can send RIPv1 broadcasts, and receive RIPv1 broadcasts and unicasts.
If no RIP version is specified for the interface and the global version is RIPv2, the interface operates
in the RIPv2 multicast mode, and it can send RIPv2 multicasts, and receive RIPv2 broadcasts,
multicasts, and unicasts.
