8 Setting the drilling depth
The drilling depth is determined by the depth setting on the coulter and the coulter
pressure.
NOTE
The settings of drilling depth and coulter pressure affect each other.
Ø
Check the coulter pressure in the field after each change of drilling depth.
Ø
Check the drilling depth in the field after each change of the coulter pressure.
Ø
Match the adjustment to the soil conditions. It can only be determined in the
field in working position.
Ø
With each change of the drilling depth check the effect of the press rollers on
consolidation and depth guidance.
Ø
Check the drilling depth when starting work and regularly during use.
8.1 Drilling depth
The coulters are guided in the depth via the press rollers.
Two options are provided for depth setting:
• Basic setting via the press roller itself. Follow the press roller section in this re-
gard.
• Fine adjustment using aluminium clips on the adjustment rods.
8.1.1 Fine adjustment
The coupling bars are connected via a square tubing section. The distance to the
seed bar and thereby the drilling depth can be adjusted via adjustment rods.
Ø
Lift the machine and insert aluminium clips on the adjustment rods at the front
in the direction of travel to adjust the drilling depth.
The fewer clips are inserted, the deeper the drilling action. The ratio of alu-
minium clips to drilling depth is approx. 1:2. Removing one clip with 1 cm
thickness equals approx. 2 cm deeper working depth.
