4. Calibration
4.1. General recommendations
Calibration principle:
◆
Running the calibrator at least 4 times without taking into account the values of the first result
(See
4.2. Calibration procedure, page 5-22
).
◆
Calibrating the instrument on the average of the last three results according to indications of the
manual (See
4.4. Calibration passed, page 5-27
◆
Running the calibrator 3 times again to check the values.
◆
Confirming the calibration while running a control blood, the values have to be returned within
acceptable limits.
◆
After about thirty numeration analyses of the day, checking that values of MCV, MCH and MCHC
are in conformity with the usual values of the laboratory.
General recommendations on calibration:
◆
The calibration on HORIBA ABX instruments is an exceptional procedure,
which must be carried out, particularly in the case of certain technical
interventions (installation, maintenance, service intervention).
◆
The calibration should not be carried out to compensate a drift on a result
due for example to clogging of the instrument.
◆
If the frequency of re-calibration is too important, it may be the sign of the
beginning of a problem (technical, reagents, etc.)
