PREFIX 9

Some installations may require a 9 prefix be dialed in order to

gain a dial tone. The W8735G supports this feature by way of

the preset jumper. See Fig. 15. When this jumper is in place, a

“9” will be added to the programmed dial-out number.

Removing the jumper removes the 9 from the dial-out

sequence.

MULTIPLE DIAL-OUT ATTEMPTS:

The normal communication procedure is for the gateway to

first attempt a network connection. If this is unavailable, the

gateway will attempt to dial out via the modem. Multiple

numbers may be programmed into the gateway as backups

(check Web App features). Thirty minute periods are allotted

to each programmed dial-out number, with dial-out attempts

occurring at approximately five minute intervals. At the end of

a 30 minute period, the next access number in the queue is

attempted. This routine is repeated between midnight and

4:00

AM

local time at which point dial-out attempts cease. The

routine is repeated during the next reporting time of midnight-

4:00

AM

.

IMPORTANT

For best gateway performance, connect to both the

network and phone.

Gateway Updates

Periodically, the gateway may require a firmware upgrade to

enable new features supported by the web application. This

will occur automatically on a schedule determined by the web

application administrators.

Battery Replacement

IMPORTANT

For best performance replace the 9V battery yearly

or as indicated by the LED (as described in Table 2).

The battery backup will ensure that if the power to the

gateway is out for a period exceeding one hour, the gateway

will attempt to access the server to announce the outage.

Battery health is monitored constantly. Once a battery is

replaced, the LED may take a few seconds to reflect the new

battery.

Battery Installation

1.

Press the latch on the top of the battery cover and pull it

away from the gateway. See Fig. 16.

2.

Connect 9 Vdc battery to the connector leads.

3.

Insert the battery in the battery compartment.

4.

Insert the bottom tabs of the battery cover into the slots

on the case, then swing the battery cover until the latch

engages.
