This section will explain why your Symphony might reset.

Contents . . .

Verify that the Symphony has a good power source.

Verify that the Symphony has connection to the control panel OR network.

Check your control panel set up.

Verify that the Symphony has a good power source.

The Symphony should be powered separately from the control panel because of the amount of current
required for it. This power supply should be common grounded to the control panel.

Verify that the panel has connection to the control panel OR network

If the Symphony cannot communicate with either the network (physical link) or the control panel, it will
keep resetting in an effort to initialize communication.

AN IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION: If the Symphony can connect to at least one of these, it will not reset.

If you intend to use the Symphony as a demo unit (to show a homeowner for example), you can
put the system into demo mode to allow it to function without a panel connected.

Note

:

 In the demo mode, the Symphony will not communicate with a control panel even if it is connected.

Check your control panel setup you must enable the Symphony in the control panel
based on its device address.

For Vista-128BP, 250BP, FA1660C, and 128FBP panels support up to THREE Symphony keypads.

For Vista-250FBP and FA1700C panels support only ONE Symphony Keypad.

1.

The Symphony defaults for device address 01. If you have multiple Symphony keypads you

must make each one a separate address.

2.

In the control panel device programming, Program a device address for the Symphony keypad

as an Alpha Keypad, Set for the partition that you want and for the “AUI?” prompt, enter “1”

for YES.

For Vista-20P(Rev. 3)/20PS/20PI:

This panel support up to TWO Symphony keypads. The 20PI supports 4.

1.

The Symphony defaults for device address 01. If you have a second Symphony keypad you must make it
address 02, a third would be address 05 (20PI only), and  a fourth would be address 06 (20PI only).

2.

In the control panel device programming, Program *189 to enable the Symphony keypad(s). *189 has two
entries. The first is for address 01, the second for 02. Enter a value to indicate the partition that an Alpha
Keypad. Entries for each position are as follows: 0 = Symphony disabled

1 = Partition 1
2 = Partition 2
3 = Lobby Partition

For example, if you have only one symphony and want it on Partition 1, set *189 = 1 0 for the 20P (Rev.3) or 20PS.
If it is the 20PI it would read *189 = 1 0 0 0 for the same set up.
