Using a Servofeed Interface with Link Motion
In a Link Motion press, the upstroke is substantially faster than the downstroke. The
downstroke is slowed to improve forming operations. If you have a link motion press and
are using a servofeed with a Wintriss Servofeed Interface (SFI), you can use one of two
methods to compensate for this change of speed. Perform the following procedure to find out
which method to use. Then go to the section indicated and follow the instructions there.
1. In Initialization mode, select FEED CONTROL. (See the Initialization chapter of your
user manual.)
2. Notice the Initialization parameters that show on the screen.
•
If SETTLING TIME is one of the Initialization parameters, go to “Settling Time SFI
Compensation for Link Motion,” below.
•
If SETTLING TIME is
not
one of the Initialization parameters, go to “Press Speed
SFI Compensation for Link Motion,” page 270.
Settling Time Compensation for Link Motion
If SETTLING TIME is on the list of Initialization parameters, use this method of
compensation. After you follow the steps below for one tool and set the settling time to the
appropriate value, you can use the Feed Advisor for all other tools on this press.
1. In Initialization Mode, select FEED CONTROL. Select SETTLING TIME and set it to
30 ms.
2. In Program Mode, select the tool that is currently loaded. Select FEED CONTROL.
3. Select FEED ADVISOR. Select CALCULATE.
4. Load the tool number in SmartPAC 2 for the tool that is in the press. Cycle the press and
notice whether feeding is complete at the correct time, or too soon or too late.
•
If feeding is complete at the correct time, you are finished with Link Motion
compensation.
•
If feeding is completed too late, go to Initialization mode, select FEED CONTROL
and increase the SETTLING TIME value by 3 ms. Go to Program mode, select
FEED CONTROL, select FEED ADVISOR and select CALCULATE. Load the tool
number. Run the press and observe the feeding again. Continue to increase the
settling time by 3-ms increments until feeding is complete at the correct time.
•
If feeding is completed too soon, go to Initialization mode, select FEED CONTROL
and decrease the SETTLING TIME value by 3 ms. Go to Program mode, select
FEED CONTROL, select FEED ADVISOR and select CALCULATE. Load the tool
number. Run the press and observe the feeding again. Continue to decrease the
settling time by 3-ms increments until feeding is complete at the correct time.
