Retighten the lock nut while holding rocker arm pivot
and torque to 10-14 N•m (7.4-10.3 lb. ft.).
8.
Check valve clearance again after tightening lock nut.
9.
Repeat steps 4 through 7, as needed, until clearance
is within specifications.
10.
Reassemble the spark plug, cylinder head cover, and
gasket.
7.6 GOVERNOR ADJUSTMENT
1.
Remove the fuel tank for access.
2.
Loosen the nut on the governor arm pinch bolt (see
illustration below).
3.
Rotate the governor arm counter-clockwise until the
throttle is completely open and hold in position.
4.
Tighten the governor arm pinch bolt on the governor
arm to maintain position.
5.
Confirm the governor arm and throttle move smoothly
and do not bind.
6.
Re-install the fuel tank.
7.
Start the engine, attach a tachometer, and adjust the
limiting screw on the governor stop to achieve 3600
rpm ± 150 rpm at idle.
8.
To ensure the governor adjustment under load, add
an electrical load to the generator, then re-adjust the
limiting screw, if necessary, to achieve the rpm stan-
dard.
