Description
X-RAY POWER ON
(Amber light is on.)
Indicates that the upper and lower X-ray sources
have power.
7.2.2. Wire calender headsplit safety interlocks
The wire calendar process material requires a special series of safety
measures and Interlocks be present on the 4022-40 scanner that provides
radiation safety protection.
The wire calender process material interferes with the operation of the
head separation proximity sensor present in standard PrecisionPak heads.
This means that the X-ray power can not be turned off and the isotope
shutter can not be closed if the head proximity sensor signals that the
heads have been separated. Consequently, in order to ensure radiation
safety, the Headsplit clutch is not present on the 4022-40 Scanner
Headsplit interlock microswitches are present on the 4022-40 scanner on
the upper and lower head mounts and upper drive belt connection to the
carriage. These interlocks disable the x-ray power and ensure the BW
shutter is closed should the heads be manually separated through removal
of the head or disconnection from the drive belt.
The 4022-40 scanner has unique power tracks in order to support the
headsplit interlock signals.
Additional electronics that support the headsplit interlocks are also
present in both the remote PMP enclosure and in the cable end electronics
enclosure on board the scanner.
See the installation drawings for more detail of the radiation interlocks.
7.2.3. Separating the wire calender scanner heads
This procedure is unique to the 4022-40 Scanner model due to the fact that
there is no head separation clutch present.
