CYLINDER HEAD COVER/VALVE
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Set the piston at top dead center of the compression
stroke.
• After installation, inspect the following:
– Valve clearance (page 3-8) .
– Cylinder compression (page 12-3) .

REMOVAL:
Push down and slide the
retainer to the side, so the
valve stem slips through the
hole at the side of the
retainer.

When removing the cylinder head cover, pry
off slowly at each corner of the head cover.
Do not remove the cylinder head cover with
force.
Replace the cylinder head cover if it is
deformed.
INTAKE VALVE
INSTALLATION:
Before installation, remove carbon
deposits and inspect the valve.
VALVE HEAD DIAMETER:
17.5 mm (0.69 in)
EXHAUST VALVE
INSTALLATION:
Before installation, remove carbon
deposits and inspect the valve.
VALVE HEAD DIAMETER:
15.5 mm (0.61 in)
