CRANKCASE
PISTON RING END GAP
Before inspection, check whether the cylinder sleeve
I.D. is within the specification
(page 11-10) .
Measure each piston ring [1] end gap using a feeler
gauge.
If any of the measurements is more than the service
limit, replace the piston rings (top, second, oil) as a set
(page 11-6) . Do not hone the cylinder.
CONNECTING ROD BIG END SIDE
CLEARANCE
Measure the side clearance between the connecting
rod big end and crankshaft using a feeler gauge.
If the measurement is more than the service limit,
replace the connecting rod and recheck the clearance.
If the clearance is still more than the service limit with a
new connecting rod, replace the crankshaft
(page 11-
3) .
CONNECTING ROD SMALL END I.D.
Measure the connecting rod small end I.D.
If the measurement is more than the service limit,
replace the connecting rod
(page 11-6) .
Inspect the piston pin O.D. (page 11-11) .
STANDARD:
Top/Second: 0.150 – 0.300 mm (0.0059 – 0.0118 in)
Oil
(side rail):
0.20 – 0.70 mm (0.008 – 0.028 in)
SERVICE LIMIT:
Top/Second: 0.600 mm (0.024 in)
Oil
(side rail):
1.0 mm (0.04 in)

STANDARD: 0.1 – 0.6 mm (0.004 – 0.024 in)
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.8 mm (0.0031 in)
STANDARD: 10.006 – 10.017 mm (0.3939 – 0.3944in)
SERVICE LIMIT: 10.05 mm (0.396 in)
