ELECTRIC STARTER

GROUND LINE
Remove the maintenance lid (page 3-4).
Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
Release the connector cover and disconnect the
starter relay 4P (Red) connector.
Check for continuity between the wire harness side
connector terminal and ground.
There should be continuity when the sidestand
retracted.
CONTINUITY INSPECTION
Remove the maintenance lid (page 3-4).
Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
Disconnect the negative (–) cable from the starter
relay.
Disconnect the starter relay 4P (Red) connector.
Remove the battery (+) cable and starter motor
cable from the starter relay.
Connect the fully charged 12 V battery positive (+)
terminal to the terminal "A" and negative (–) termi-
nal to the terminal "B" of the starter relay.
Connect the ohmmeter probes to the starter relay
4P connector terminal "C" and "D".
There should be continuity between the cable termi-
nals while the battery is connected, and no continu-
ity when the battery is disconnected.
CONNECTION: White/Green – Ground
