CRANKCASE/CRANKSHAFT
CRANKSHAFT INSTALLATION
Apply m olybdenum disulfide oil to the main journal
bearing inserts and install the crankshaft into the
right crankcase
Assemble the crankcase (page 13-16).
CRANKPIN BEARING
NOTICE
Do n o t interchange the bea rin g inserts. They m ust
be in s ta lle d in th e ir o rig in a l lo ca tio n s o r the correct
bea rin g o il clearance m a y n o t be obtained, resulting
in e ngine damage.
BEARING INSPECTION
Remove the connecting rod (page 13-7).
Check the bear ng inserts for unusual wear, damage
or peeling and replace them if necessary.
Select the replacement bearing (page 13-10).
OIL CLEARANCE INSPECTION
Clean off any oil from the bearing inserts and crank-
pins.
Put a strip of plastigauge lengthwise on each crank­
pin avoiding the oil hole.
