Engine Oil & Filter
4.Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick and
check the oil level.
•
If oil appears on the oil filler cap/dipstick,
refer to
To check the oil level.
•
If oil does not appear, perform step 5
.
5.Remove the oil drain pipe cap (2) and
insert the oil filler cap/dipstick in the oil
drain pipe (3) until it seats, but don’t screw
it in.
6.Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick. If no oil
appears on the dipstick, do not start the
engine.
7.Reinstall the oil drain pipe cap and tighten
it securely.
Before starting the engine, add the
specified oil into the filler cap hole (4),
until it appears on the oil filler cap/dipstick.
8.Reinstall the oil filler cap/dipstick. Make
sure the cap is tightened securely.
To check the oil level on shore
1.In a well-ventilated area, start the engine
while flushing the cooling system (page
189).
•
Start the engine before turning on the water
to prevent flow through the exhaust pipe
back into the engine where it could cause
severe damage.
•
Avoid running the engine without water
flow for more than 15 seconds to prevent
severe engine and exhaust system damage.
2.Let the engine idle for 5 minutes. If the air
temperature is below 10°C (50°F), let it
idle for an additional 5 minutes (a total of
10 minutes).
