SERVICING YOUR PUMP
2. First remove any dirt from around the spark plug area, and then
disconnect the spark plug cap.
3. Remove the spark plug with a spark plug wrench.
4. Inspect the spark plug. Replace it
if the electrodes are worn, or if
the insulator is cracked or
chipped.
5. Measure the spark plug
electrode gap with a wire-type
feeler gauge.
Correct the gap, if necessary, by
carefully bending the side
electrode.
The gap should be:
0.024–0.028 in (0.6–0.7 mm)
6. Install the spark plug carefully, by
hand, to avoid cross-threading.
