Airbags can povide life-saving protection,
but only in a severe frontal collision.
Airbags cannot be helpful, and they are
not intended to deploy, in any other type of
collision, including side or rear impacts,
rollovers, and minor or moderate frontal
collisions.
If the airbags deployed in any of these
situations, they would only cause additional
replacement expense, and they might even
cause additional injuries.
Seat belts, and the car's ability to absorb
crash energy, offer adequate protection in
minor and moderate frontal collisions.
