Part 7: Using DigitalNow and the R2 Patient ID System
7.4. Querying an External Database
You can enter patient information onto the patient information entry page by
querying a PACS/workstation (configured by the Hologic service engineer when the
system was installed).
There are three types of queries; the type you can run was configured by the Hologic
service engineer. The following types are available:
•
DICOM Patient Root Query.
If this was configured, only the
query
buttons in the
Patient Information section of the patient information entry page are active. When
you query by touching the
query
button to the right of the patient name fields, the
system queries using only those fields. When you query by touching the
query
button to the right of ‘Site Patient ID / Medical Record #’ field, the system queries
using only that field. With either button, the query result returns data for just the
fields in the Patient Information section.
•
DICOM Study Root Query.
If this was configured, only the
query
button in the
Study Information section of the patient information entry page is active. When
you query by touching the
query
button to the right of the ‘Accession Number’
field, the system queries using only that field. The query returns data for all fields
on the page.
•
DICOM Modality Worklist Query.
If this was configured, all three
query
buttons
are active. When you query by touching any
query
button, the system queries
using only the field(s) to its left. The query result returns data for all fields on the
page; however, the data entered into ‘Study Date (MM/DD/YYYY)’ comes from
the Scheduled Procedure Step Start Date field in the database.
Note: These queries do not enter the R2 barcode number. You’ll need to enter it as
described in step 3 in the preceding procedure, ‘ 7.3. Using the R2 Patient ID System ’.
