Note
DigitalNow HD always removes any VOI LUTs present in the original images. The only
exception to this rule occurs when image processing fails; in that case, DigitalNow HD
passes the original image through to the destination.
Window Center / Window Width
Most workstations that cannot apply VOI LUTs can apply window width / window
center (WW/WC) values at the initial presentation of the images. The overall appearance
of the resulting images on such workstations tends to show less contrast.
Each DigitalNow image includes a window width / window center (WW/WC) value pair
in the image DICOM header. When DigitalNow HD is installed at a facility, you can:
•
Retain the WW/WC value pair provided with the original DigitalNow image
•
Specify a different WW/WC value pair according to the preferences of site personnel
Consult with the site clinical staff to select the correct option.
Image Size
DigitalNow HD can produce output images at any resolution from 50 to 200 microns. It
utilizes the routing capabilities of the Cenova server to determine the resolution of the
output images. DigitalNow HD applies a specific output resolution for each combination
of image source and image destination. There are three possible applications for selecting
different image sizes.
•
Preserving as much spatial resolution as possible (i.e., a setting of 50 microns)
•
Reducing storage requirements (e.g., a setting of 100 or 200 microns)
•
Matching the resolution of a digital mammography detector, which may preserve
uniform tissue scaling between current and prior mammograms on less sophisticated
workstations (e.g., a setting of 50, 70, 85, or 94 microns)
Consult with the site clinical staff to select the correct option. Be sure to review the
guidelines provided in
on page 40 to understand how to set
the resolution for each source and destination device combination.
DigitalNow HD Processing Timeout
This setting determines how long the server will attempt to process a DigitalNow HD
image. If the server cannot complete the processing within the specified time, the original
DigitalNow image will be passed through to the output device and the failure will be
recorded in the log file. Normally you should leave this setting at the default (150
seconds).
