Setting the Maximum End of Case Timeout
The Maximum End of Case Timeout setting is used by the server to determine
wait time for images. The Max Timeout setting must be in the range of 30–300
seconds. The default Maximum Timeout setting is 120 seconds.
A
timeout
is an interrupt signal generated by the server after it has waited a
certain length of time for input and has not received it.
The server uses the Maximum End of Case Timeout setting (seconds) to
determine how long it waits for the next image in the current case before
closing the case and finalizing the results. The default Maximum Timeout
setting for DICOM source devices is 120 seconds. However, the actual timeout
interval depends on a number of factors including network latency, image
input rate, system CPU, and memory constraints.
You can adjust the Maximum Timeout value to optimize server throughput.
However, adjusting this value
can cause delayed delivery of results or delivery of
multiple results
for the same study.
Do not
change the default value without
first consulting the TAC.
To prevent multiple CAD result objects, Hologic recommends that you
configure the image source to send images to the Cenova server in rapid
succession.
Setting the Processing Priority for Each DICOM Input Device
When the server receives a DICOM case, it places each case in one of three
processing queues (High, Medium, or Low priority). The server processes all
cases according to the priority assigned to each input device. Cases from a
DICOM source are prioritized according to the setting selected on the System
Settings > DICOM screen. In low-volume facilities, the 'Medium' default
setting will be appropriate.
In high-volume facilities, clinic personnel may wish to assign other priorities.
For example, cases from an FFDM acquisition workstation might be High
priority, while cases from a PACS device might be Low priority.
