2.11 Hydraulic System & Truck PTO
Overview
The hydraulic system is powered by the truck
engine and activated by the PTO switch in the
console switch panel. It is equipped with a pump,
a reservoir/cooling tank and a low pressure filter.
The truck transmission must be in neutral and
the engine set to 2000 RPM for proper hydraulic
system operation.
An oil cooler with a constant ON fan cools the
hydraulic fluid during operation. Electric solenoid
valves activated by switches in the control switch
panel direct hydraulic pressure to the various
components. Hydraulic oil level is monitored by
a site gauge on the side of the reservoir that is
visible through the rear window of the cab. The
fluid level should be maintained within the upper
level of the sight glass to ensure adequate fluid
for operation.
Hydraulic Circuit and Pump
The truck powered hydraulic pump is mounted to
the truck transmission. When activated by the PTO
switch in the cab, it provides high pressure fluid to the
hydraulic powered water blasting accessory systems.
The circuit is equipped with pressure relief valves
that prevent excessive pressure in the system.
The maximum operation pressure for the hydraulic
system is 3000 psi (207 BAR).
Reservoir
A reservoir tank mounted on the hydraulic tree
behind the cab provides the hydraulic fluid for the
system. The pump circulates fluid through the
manifold, motors, hydraulic cylinders and other
components, then back to the tank. A low pressure
filter near the bottom of the reservoir cleans the
fluid as it flows back into the reservoir.
Hydraulic fluid should be changed and the tank
flushed on a regular schedule as recommended by
the hydraulic reservoir/cooling tank manufacturer.
