5. Removing Channel Boards
NOTE : You cannot remove the Channel Boards to which the LUN paths or NVM subsystem
ports are assigned. Before starting the removal procedure, release the assignment of
the LUN paths by referring to
“
Deleting LUN Paths from Ports
”

If the operation mode of Fibre Channel ports is set to NVMe, release the assignment
of the NVM subsystem ports before the removal procedure by referring to
Provisioning Guide for Open Systems. For checking the operation mode of Fibre
Channel ports, refer to
“
Procedure for Checking Operation Mode of Port
”
.
• If you release the assignment of the LUN paths, after performing that, ask the
customer to restart Command Control Interface (CCI) used for operating TrueCopy/
Universal Replicator/global-active device/ShadowImage/Thin Image pairs.
• If you remove Channel Boards for mainframe systems, after performing that, ask the
customer to restart Command Control Interface (CCI) used for operating TrueCopy
for Mainframe/Universal Replicator for Mainframe/ShadowImage for Mainframe/
Thin Image pairs.
NOTE: You need to remove two Channel Boards in a pair according to

Channel Board
Option Installation Rule
”

•
For VSP 5500 and VSP 5500H, remove two Channel Boards in one removal
operation on Maintenance Utility.
•
For VSP 5100 and VSP 5100H, remove one Channel Board in one removal
operation on Maintenance Utility. To remove two Channel Boards in a pair, perform
the removal operation on Maintenance Utility twice.
Follow the procedure below.
1. Connecting the Maintenance PC
Connect the Maintenance PC to the SSVP, and then log in to the SVP.

2. Starting the SVP window
From the menu of Web Console, click [Maintenance Components] - [Maintenance Other Components].
3. Changing the operation mode
Change the mode to [View Mode].
