8.6.2 Configuring VLANs
V
Select the
Switching:VLAN
. Dialog.
Under VLAN you will find all tables and attributes to configure and mo-
nitor the VLAN functions complying with IEEE 802.1Q standard.
V
Select the dialog
Switching:VLAN:Global
.
V
Activate “VLAN Transparent Mode” to transmit priority-tagged
packets that are not a member of a VLAN, i.e. have a VLAN-ID of “0”.
In this mode the VLAN-ID “0” is retained in the packet, regardless of
the setting of the port VLAN ID in the “VLAN Port” dialog.
Note:
For Power MICE and MACH 4000
In “transparent mode”, the devices ignore the VLAN tags when they
receive data. Set the VLAN membership of the ports of all VLANs to
un
tagged
.
Note:
When configuring the VLAN, ensure that the port to which your
management station is connected, can still send the data of the mana-
gement station after saving the VLAN configuration. Assigning the port
to the VLAN with ID 1 always ensures that the management station data
can be sent.
After changing entries:
Set
The agent saves the new entry.
The modification will take effect immediately.
Reload
Displays the updated configuration.
Note:
Save the VLAN configuration to non-volatile memory
Note:
The 256 available VLANs can use any VLAN ID in the range 1 to
4042.
