8.3 What is the finite volume model?
The finite volume model signifies a calculation domain that has been segregated into a finite
number of elements (known as a mesh) in order to perform numerical calculations using the finite
volume method (FVM).
The RM2612 Resistance Calculation Software calculates potential distribution using the FVM in
order to calculate the interface resistance and composite layer volume resistivity. The finite volume
model is equivalent to a circuit consisting of a three-dimensional resistance matrix, as shown below.
