Appx. 5 Maintenance of Coaxial Connector
Because the coaxial connector is highly accurate, reproducibility will deteriorate even in case of
small bends, damages and dust etc.
Connecting a coaxial connector with dust or defects may damage the connector of the instrument.
Do not use a coaxial connector with defects.
Before measurement, visually inspect the connector to make sure that the coaxial connector is not
defective.
Visual inspection of the connector
(Using a magnifying glass is recommended.)
Screw
Must not have any burrs or metal fragments attached, crushed, or have scratches.
Nut
Smooth movement.
Outer
conductor
The contact surface must be free from dust, dirt, or scratches.
Inner
conductor

The contact surface must be free from dust, dirt, scratches or defects.
•
The contact must be free from extreme bending or opening.
•
Must not be eccentric with respect to the outer conductor.
Full contact
Slight opening of the contact
(Resistant to normal use)
Excessive bend of the
contact (Cannot be used)
Connector cleaning
• Blow low-pressure air.
•
Apply little alcohol to a cotton swab, and clean the contact surface and the screw thread.
