In general, use of the Hilti DC 125 EX or, respec-
tively, the DG dust extraction hood with a suit-
able Hilti vacuum cleaner is recommended for
slitting, cutting or grinding concrete or stone.
This equipment ensures additional safety for the
operator and increases the life expectancy of the
tool and discs.
When particularly hard substrates (e. g. concrete containing very hard aggregates)
are cut, the dry-cutting diamond disc may overheat and suffer damage. A trail of
sparks all round the circumference of the disc when cutting is a clear indication of
this.
Should this occur, the cutting operation should be stopped and the diamond disc
allowed to cool by running the tool under no load for a short time.
A decrease in the rate of cutting progress may indicate that the diamond segments
have become blunt (polished).
The disc can be resharpened by making a cut in abrasive material (Hilti sharpening
plate or abrasive sand-lime block).
Grinding
The tool is suitable only for the occasional grinding of substrates using diamond cup
wheels.
It may be used for this application only when
equipped with the corresponding dust extration
hood and dust extraction system.
Rough grinding
For rough grinding, the tool is most effective when the disc is held at an angle of 30°–
40° to the workpiece surface.
Due to
the risk of causing fires,
take care to ensure that no flammable materials are
within range of flying sparks when cutting or grinding metals.
Never
use cutting discs for grinding.
