Accelerator options
This server supports various accelerator options to meet your computational and graphics workload
requirements. For a list of supported accelerator models, see the server QuickSpecs on the product page
at
http://www.hpe.com/servers/xl190r-gen10
.
• PCIe workload accelerators – These options are PCIe card
‑
based, direct
‑
attach solutions that use
solid
‑
state storage technology directly on the PCI bus to boost I/O performance and reduce latency to
scale in line with your processing requirements.
• Computation and graphics accelerators – These options deliver accelerated compute performance for
a range of deep learning, high performance computing (HPC), and graphics-intensive applications.
Accelerator options installation
Accelerators are supported in the secondary riser slot 3 transfer board and riser slot 4
. For
information on the accelerator numbering, see
on page 21.
CAUTION:
The maximum inlet ambient temperature for most components installed in the system is
35°C (95°F). Some components, however, are subject to thermal limitations depending on the
chassis model and the fan configuration. There are some hardware configurations where it is
necessary to limit the number of drives installed in the chassis. For more information, see
.
Installing an accelerator
If only one accelerator is being installed, install it in the secondary riser slot 3 transfer board.
IMPORTANT:
This server does not support mixing different graphics accelerators models.
Attempting to do so can cause the server to halt during BIOS initialization. All graphics accelerators
installed in the server must be of the same model.
Prerequisites
• Some accelerator models are subject to thermal limitations depending on the chassis model and the
fan configuration. In these cases, it is necessary to remove some installed drives and replace them
with thermal bezel blanks or drive blanks.
Perform this blank installation before installing the
.
• Auxiliary power cable – Some accelerator models require an external auxiliary power connection to
fully power up. For a list of these specific accelerator models, see the server QuickSpecs on the
Hewlett Packard Enterprise website (
).
• Before installing this option, make sure that you have a T-10 and a T-15 Torx screwdrivers available.
Procedure
1.
2.
Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
3.
Remove the server from the chassis
on page 28.
4.
If the accelerator require an external auxiliary power connection, do the following:
