When trying to have good quality listening in car, the main
problem you have to solve is the different distance of the two
stereo channels from the listening point. Both the driver and the
passenger who sit in the car have an average offset between
the two channels equal to about 25-35 cm. Because of this
difference, the sound of the farther channel is perceived 85 ms
later than the other. Human hearing does not consciously
distinguish this delay and cannot elaborate perceived sound in a
natural way, as if it came from the same source.
Used for the first time in a commercial system, TAD
®
(Time Alignment Device) circuit corrects the
speaker response in the time domain by inserting a selective delay in the acoustic response and
eliminating perception delay.
Imaging gets in the center of the dashboard and sound is natural, solid, real, accurate.
The possibility to select listening point according to three different configurations (driver, passenger, all)
in a few seconds is brand new and makes these crossovers suitable to every listening condition.
Another listening problem which derives from the CAR compartment asymmetry is the different
direction of the speakers of the two channels with regard to
the listening point. The biggest angulation of the channel
which is closer to the listener changes frequency response
according to surface and to membrane size.
HFC
®
(High Frequency Contour) system totally
superimposes the channels sound to the listening point.
Thanks to this technology and to TAD

HERTZ MILLE
systems are completely different from all you have been
listening to so far.

Car is one of the most complex, difficult surroundings for musical reproduction. Every car
compartment has its special sound, demands specifically designed installation projects and involves
various problems: the relation between direct sound and reflected sound, the speakers position and
their distance and angulation with regard to the listening point. The solutions to these problems are
sometimes contrasting and difficult, they need expensive investments and complex installations.
When designing
MILLE
line speakers,
HERTZ
only aimed at state-of-the-art performance, without
any economic or structural compromises.
In order to achieve this goal, we designed cutting-edge speakers (in terms of technology, used
materials and acoustic parameters) and developed innovative crossovers in our laboratories; these
filters are extraordinary both in terms of construction and of performance.
The crossover is the heart of every loudspeakers system, it is the device which handles the response
of every component for generating the system sound, the air vibrations in the listening environment.
Frequency response, phase response, interactions among the single components and between the
latter and the listening environment. Components sonic accuracy, interaction easiness and versatility,
reliability.
MILLE
line new systems have unique crossovers, with very precise, efficient equalisers and
time correction devices, derived from
HERTZ
engineering staff's long experience.
