Platelet Incubator Operation Manual
3.4
Moving the incubator
Floor model incubators have locking swivel casters, enabling them to be rolled and locked into place.
!
WARNING:
►
The incubator may be too heavy or awkward for you to move alone. Get
assistance as needed.
►
Countertop models: When moving the incubator, do not use the water
evaporation tray, located on the rear of the incubator, as a handle. Avoid
contact with the tray as it may be hot.
►
Floor models: Before moving the incubator, ensure that all the casters are
unlocked and that the doors are closed. When moving the incubator, push
from the sides of the incubator, not from the front or back. Pushing from the
front or back could cause the incubator to tip if the wheels become stuck.
3.5
Powering the incubator
This section explains how to connect the incubator to the main power source and turn the power on and off.
3.5.1
Connecting to AC power
The power cord for all countertop models and 230 V floor models is located in the accessories box that is
shipped with the incubator. For all models except the PC4200 models, the accessories box includes one or
more additional shorter power cords, each of which is used to provide power to a Helmer agitator when it is
installed inside the incubator.
To connect to AC power
!
CAUTION:
As with any electronic device, before connecting to power, make sure that the
incubator is at room temperature.
1
(All countertop models and 230 V floor models only): Connect one end of the power cord to the power
connector on the incubator.
2
Plug the power cord into a grounded outlet that meets the power requirements that appear on the
Product Specification label on the incubator.
3.5.2
Turning AC power on and off
NOTE:
When the power is turned on, the chamber temperature may exceed the high
temperature alarm setpoint, which will cause an alarm to sound. When normal
operating temperature is reached, the alarm clears automatically. For information
and instructions to mute or disable the alarm, see Section 6.4, “Controlling the
sound for audible alarms.”
For i.Series models, each time you turn on the power you are given the option to select the language used
to display text on the monitoring system. The monitoring system can store two languages, which are loaded
from the flash memory card. By default, only English is loaded and selected. If you want to use a language
other than English, it must first be loaded from the flash memory card to be stored on the monitoring
system. If a flash memory card is not included with your incubator, your distributor may have loaded the
appropriate languages prior to shipment. For more information about available languages and instructions
for loading them, refer to the documentation provided with the flash memory card or contact Helmer or
your local distributor.
