6 Warnings
The products may only be used in combination with HEBU accessories and only by clinically
instructed and qualified personnel. In particular, the following must be checked: correct attachment of
all HF cables and plugs, correct activation of current by the finger - or footswitches, undamaged
insulation of the HF cables and instrument, and check that the distal end of the electrode is dean and
undamaged.
Before operating, check that the signal transmission of the monitors works without interference (e.g.
without noise); this check is made by pressing the yellow button (CUT) and the blue button (COAG).
Always unplug the HF-cable by holding on the connector.
Never pull the cable itself
, as this may
lead to defects. Cables with defective/brittle insulation or with a broken electrical wire (due to severe
bending) might cause a fire. Active HF instruments and HF handles must not be placed on the patient
in order to avoid injuries in case of involuntary HF activation or activated “Auto Start” mode.
Endogenous burns
are those caused by high current density in the patient´s tissue. Possible
reasons are: The patient is inadvertently positioned in contact with electrically conductive parts. Direct
contact between skin areas and HF cables may lead to electrical capacitance which in turn may
cause burns.
Exogenous burns
are those caused by heat of ignited fluids or gases. They may also be caused by
explosions. Possible reasons include: Ignition of skin cleaning agents and disinfectants, ignition or
narcotic gases etc.
Cardiac pacemakers
may be damaged by electrosurgical current. Consult a cardiologist before
operating. Never use electrosurgical current on outpatients fitted with pacemakers.
