LoSmoke
®
Technology
HearthStone Outdoor fire pits have been designed
for superior air flow. The inside air grate supports
smart air movement for an efficient flow pattern. The
fire is fed through the air inlet in the bottom of the fire
bowl. This encourages controlled air movement,
resulting in a LoSmoke experience. Trust us
—you
won’t miss any of the smoke at all.
Superior air flow
The fire grate in the bottom of the fire pit has
been designed to smartly move air in the most
efficient pattern.
Fire is fed from below
The elevated fire bowl takes in oxygen in a
controlled way from under the fire pit.
Controlled air movements mean controlled smoke
Enjoy the fire more when smoke is reduced and
deliberately moved in a pattern.
No more dodging a face full of smoke
—just
enjoy the fire!
Choosing Firewood
Burn only natural firewood (known as cordwood) or
barbeque grade charcoal in the Outdoor Appliance.
This appliance is not designed to burn other fuels.

THE USE OF UNAUTHORIZED FUEL SUCH AS
COAL COULD PRODUCE HIGH HEAT EXCEEDING
THE CAPABILITIES OF THE CAST IRON BOWL,
FIRE GRATES, AND COOKING RINGS, CAUSING
WARPAGE, CRACKING, AND FAILURE.
The quality of your firewood directly affects heat
output, duration of burn and performance of your
appliance. Softwoods generally burn hotter and
faster, while hardwoods burn longer and produce
better coals. Density and moisture content are two
critical factors to consider when purchasing or
preparing wood for your appliance.
Moisture content also plays a key role in the
performance of your appliance. Wood freshly cut
from a living tree (green wood) contains a great deal
of moisture. As you might expect, green wood burns
poorly. You must season green wood before using it
in your appliance. To season green wood properly,
split, stack, and allow it to air dry for a period of one
year. Green wood may provide less than 2000 Btu
per pound, whereas dry wood can provide up to 7000
Btu per pound.
Stack the firewood on skids or blocks to keep it off
the ground, cover only the top of the stack. Plastic or
tarps that cover the sides of the woodpile trap
moisture and prevent the wood from drying. As for
stacking, an old Vermonter said, "The spaces
between the logs should be large enough for a
mouse to get through, but not for the cat that's
chasing it."
