Set Up:
To flatten game mat for play, unbox, unroll, and reroll mat in the opposite direction for 5 to 10 minutes. Alternately, lay bowling
mat flat, printed side up, and place small weights at each end until mat rests flat unassisted.
Each bowling rock requires 4 AA batteries (not included) and is powered by an on/off switch found on the bottom of the rock.
Bowling Terms:
Frame: 1/10 of the game. A bowling game has ten frames, and each player rolls twice on a frame.
Spare: all pins have been knocked down during the second ball roll of a frame, when not all pins were knocked down in the
first frame
Strike: all pins have been knocked down during the first ball roll of a frame
Turkey: three strikes bowled consecutively
Instructions:
Bowling is a fun and challenging sport that everyone can participate in, no advanced athleticism required! A traditional game of
bowling consists of 10 frames. In each frame, the bowler has two chances to knock down as many pins as possible with their
bowling ball. When all 10 pins are knocked down by the end of the second ball, the player earns a spare, which is worth 10
points plus a bonus of whatever is scored with the next ball. When all 10 pins are knocked down with the first ball, the player
earns a strike, which is worth 10 points plus a bonus of whatever is scored with the next two balls. If you earn 3 consecutive
stirkes, you earn a turkey! The player with the most points at the end of 10 frames is the winner.
HearthSong has created a challenging indoor set for both kids and adults, designed with air-hover bowling rocks and a
substantial mat made of polypropylene. Two players take turns sending one rock at a time along the surface of the mat, with the
goal of knocking as many pins down as possible within 2 “rolls.” When each player has completed two rolls, this completes one
frame. The player with the most points at the end of 10 frames is the winner!
The best rule of thumb when playing Hover Bowling is to include rules that make sense so that the whole family has the
opportunity to learn about the sport of bowling and have fun!
After play, clean mat with a dry brush and store with bowling rocks in the storage box provided.
