RAID level 10 – Combining RAID 0 & RAID 1
RAID 10
combines RAID 0 and RAID 1 in one single system. It provides security
by mirroring all data on a secondary set of disks (Disk 2 and 4 in the drawing
below) while using striping across each set of disks to speed up data transfers.

Advantages
l
Great performance, both in read and write operations.
l
If a disk fails and is replaced by a new disk, data does not have to be rebuilt;
it just has to be copied to the replacement disk.
l
The technology is easy to implement. No parity calculations are required.
l
Volume size is not limited to one disk.
Disadvantages
l
Ineffective storage capacity, only half of the total disk capacity is available.
