Chapter 3: Operation
Preliminary—Contents are proprietary and confidential. Do not photocopy or distribute.
ASI Mode
ASI mode forces the channel to lock to an ASI signal. Selecting this
mode allows the reclocker to handle ASI data only.
For ASI at the 270 Mb
/
s setting, a harmonic is created when
transmitting the K28.5 idle character. This pattern may be detected as a
false 177 Mb
/
s signal when a 270 Mb
/
s ASI signal is connected. The
ASI control disables the detection of any 177 Mb
/
s rate in order to
avoid false signal detections due to this harmonic. It does not influence
the detection of any other rate or control.
Understanding Parameter Types
Most DHSD / DHSE6800
+
parameters are adjustable, and can be set
using either card-edge controls (see
“Understanding Jumper Controls”
) or a software application. However, there are some
parameters that are considered “read-only” and cannot be changed.
Indicated by the abbreviation “
[RO]
,” these parameters provide status
and feedback information only.
Adjustable Parameters
Two types of adjustable parameters can be changed using the card-edge
controls:
540
Forces channel to lock to a 540 Mb / s signal
Set the jumper on the pin that allows the reclocker to handle 540 Mb / s data only
• If the 540 reclock mode is selected, the 540 Mb / s LED will turn on
• If the module can successfully lock to the input, the lock LED will turn on
• If reclocking is not successful, the lock LED will turn off and the un-reclocked data will
be present at the output
HD
Set the jumper on the pin that allows the reclocker to handle HD (1.485 Gb / s) data only
• If the HD reclock mode is selected, the HD LED will turn on
• If the module can successfully lock to the input, the lock LED will turn on
• If reclocking is not successful, the lock LED will turn off and the un-reclocked data will
be present at the output
Bypass
Forces channel to bypass the reclocker
