Protocol Layers
To provide TCP/IP service within the Constellation Network, the TCP/IP suite
requires a physical and a data link layer assistance. TCP/IP over Ethernet is
configured with Ethernet in the data link layer and a twisted-pair cable in the
physical layer.
In Harris’ TCP/IP over Netcom architecture, the microwave radio replaces the
twisted-pair cable and Netcom replaces Ethernet.
is a comparison of the two protocol layer schemes.
