1. Connect the breakout cable to the 60 pin connector on one of the SDI I/O cards on the Spectrum X.
2. Connect the Reference connector on the breakout cable to reference video.
3. If required, configure VITC lines using the SystemManager. For details, refer to the

Connect audio and video I/O to your Spectrum system as needed.
NOTE:
The connections in the following sections are recommendations only. Your system
configuration and specific audio/video requirements may differ.
Connecting audio and video I/O to Spectrum X
Connect the SDI I/O connectors on the rear panel of the Spectrum X as needed.
NOTE:
Spectrum X supports embedded audio. Separate connections to AES audio
as described below are optional. For details on embedded audio, see the
Harmonic
SystemManager User Guide
.
1. For the Record Spectrum X, make the following connections to record video and monitor the
recording process.
a. Connect video from a VTR or Routing Switcher to the SDI IN connector.
b. Connect one of the two SDI OUT connectors to an SDI monitor.
2. For the Play Spectrum X, make the following connections to play audio and video and monitor the
playback process.
a. Connect the first SDI OUT connector to an SDI monitor.
b. Connect the second SDI OUT connector to your Master Control Switcher or Routing Switcher.
c. Using the DSUB connector attached to the Spectrum X, connect AES audio using the AES/LTC
connector on the breakout cable to your Master Control Switcher or Routing Switcher.
3. For the Preview Spectrum X, make the following connections to preview audio and video in an off air
environment as required.
a. Connect the first SDI OUT connector to an SDI monitor.
b. Using the DSUB connector attached to the Spectrum X, connect AES audio using the AES/LTC
connector on the breakout cable to your Routing Switcher.
