Connecting Spectrum X to your SMPTE 2022-6 network
The optional 10 Gb I/O module (IOM) on a Spectrum X provides two 10 Gb Ethernet connections for
SMPTE 2022-6 video.
IMPORTANT:
Connect the 10 Gb I/O module directly to the 10 Gb switch dedicated to
2022-6 traffic. Do not connect the 10 Gb I/O module (IOM) to any switch other than the one
that is dedicated to 2022-6 traffic.
NOTE:
For the 10 Gb optical I/O module, use 850nm MMF SR transceivers with LC fiber-
optic connectors. Either 62.5um or 50um MMF fiber may be used. If using 62.5um, the
maximum length supported is 30 meters.
1. Connect one port of the 10 Gb I/O module to an open port on the 2022-6 switch.
2. Connect the second port of the 10 Gb I/O module to an open port on the 2022-6 switch.
The following sample diagram shows an optical I/O module.
NOTE:
Spectrum X does not support internal loopback (for example, fiber optic
loopback) between the two NICs. This means:
◦ Do not connect the Spectrum X Ethernet interfaces to each other.
◦ If the same 2022-6 stream address is used for output and input (that is, loopback),
the output and input must be configured to use different NICs on the Spectrum X.
And the NICs must be connected to a switch.
