a. Connect the third and the fourth EFS Ethernet ports to the first and the second EFS Ethernet ports
on the third MediaDirector.
b. Connect the fifth and the sixth EFS Ethernet ports to the third and the fourth EFS Ethernet ports
on the fourth MediaDirector.
3. From the third MediaDirector, on the Ethernet card assigned to EFS, connect the fifth and the sixth
Ethernet cables to the corresponding ports on the fourth MediaDirector.
Connecting I/O modules to a MediaDirector 2252B or 2251B a
MediaCenter 2200B
Connect your ChannelPorts, MediaPorts, or Spectrum X units in shared storage configuration to the
MediaPort Ethernet array on the MediaDirector 2252B or 2251B unit or the MediaCenter 2200B unit.
The diagram in this section illustrates a small system with three Spectrum X/ChannelPorts/MediaPorts
and a MediaDirector 2252B.

• Connect one of the Ethernet ports from the MediaPort Ethernet array on the MediaDirector or
MediaCenter to the Ethernet port on the Record MediaPort or Spectrum X.
• Connect one of the Ethernet ports from the MediaPort Ethernet array on the MediaDirector or
MediaCenter to the Ethernet port on the Play MediaPort, ChannelPort, or Spectrum X.
• Connect one of the Ethernet ports from the MediaPort Ethernet array on the MediaDirector or
MediaCenter to the Ethernet port on the Preview MediaPort, ChannelPort, or Spectrum X.
Connecting to the Ethernet network
Connect the public Ethernet ports on the Spectrum video server to your Ethernet network for connections
to the SystemManager and the client system being used for file transfers.
IMPORTANT:
Check with your network administrator before connecting to your Ethernet
network.

On Spectrum video servers, you can configure public Ethernet interfaces in fail-over pairs to provide
added reliability in the event of a hardware failure. When a pair of Ethernet interfaces are configured in
