Unpacking and inspecting the system
Unpacking and inspecting the system
When you receive the component of a Spectrum system, inspect each shipping container for signs of
damage.
Contact your local Harmonic representative and the carrier immediately if you suspect any damage has
occurred during shipping. Check the contents of each box against the packing list to be sure that all parts
are included. If any items are missing, contact your local Harmonic representative immediately.
NOTE:
A Spectrum system uses SAS connections between MediaDirectors and the
MediaStore 5000 series. One, two, and five meter SAS cables must be ordered separately.
IMPORTANT:
The MediaDirector models 2252B, 2252B-DS, and 2251B require a different
SAS cable than prior MediaDirector models. To make sure you have the correct SAS cable,
contact your Harmonic sales representative.
Spectrum system environmental and power requirements
Review the environmental and power requirements for your site before installing a Spectrum system.
Environmental requirements
Spectrum equipment is designed to operate in a clean, air-conditioned control room environment.
Care must be taken to avoid temperature and humidity extremes. Interior temperature of the rack
cabinet should be maintained at ambient temperatures but must not exceed 40°C (104°F) during normal
operation.
Power requirements
When connecting the MediaStore 5000 series, care must be taken to avoid power lines that are subject
to noise and voltage spikes. Do
not
install the units on a circuit that is common to such equipment as air
conditioners and refrigeration units. AC noise filters and surge protectors are recommended if unstable
power conditions are present. Properly shielded and grounded cables and connectors must be used in
order to meet FCC emission limits.
