30-40% anticipated operating range. Set the OP% for the
high rate samples at 50% which is your HIGH RATE
CAL% on the form. (See Feeder Verification Procedures
above for instructions)
•
Simultaneously press the start and the timer at the same
time. This procedure can be done with one person, but is
best done with two people, one operating the controller
and the other timing the sample run.
•
Allow the feeder to run for exactly one (1) minute.
•
Stop the feeder by pressing the Stop button on the control-
ler.
•
Check the weight by weighing the sample on the scale or
if you don't have a scale checking the total weight on the
Scale Display. (See Fig. 4-9)
•
Write the OP%, Weight, and date in HIGH RATE CAL%
Reading # 1.
•
Repeat this procedure for Readings #2, and #3. This will
insure a higher degree of accuracy.
NOTE:
If you want to confirm the low and high readings are accurate throughout the operat-
ing range, run the samples at 30% and 40% or any of the rates between the antici-
pated low and high feed rates.
Step 6. If the results are consistent between samples, enter the rate
data into the Rate Calibration sub-menu. (See Automatic Rate
Calibration Procedures above)

Method #2
Materials
Required
•
Rate Calibration Data Gathering Form. (Appendix A)
•
Timer or stop watch.
•
Two (2)Containers to catch the material that is dispensed from the
feeder.
•
A Calibrated Scale
Slow Feed Rate
Step 1. Set the Operational Percentage (OP%) to a percentage point
below the expected operational range. For Example: 30-40%
anticipated operating range (OP%). Set the OP% for the low
rate samples at 20% which is your LOW RATE CAL% on the
form. (See Feeder Verification Procedures, Paragraph 5.3.1,
sub paragraph 12 e for instructions)
Step 2. Start the feeder.
Step 3. Allow the feeder to run until the material is flowing smoothly
into one of the containers.
Step 4. Divert the material stream to a second container for a selected
period of time.
Step 5. When the time period is up, divert the material flow back to
the first container.
