Load Cell Wiring
Diagram (See Fig.
3-30, 31, 32)
•
Attach the Load Cell Cable Shield to the ground screw. (See Fig.
3-30)
•
Recommended load cell cable lengths:
•
C2 cable - 50 feet (12.7 meters) or more
Hardy Process
Solutions
Prt. #6002-0001, .340 (8.6) Diameter, shielded
8
cond, 22 AWG.
•
50 feet (12.7 meters) or less (Non C2) - Hardy Instru-
ments Prt. # 6005-0072 (.205 (5.2) Diameter, shielded 4
cond., 22 AWG.
•
Factory installed jumpers must remain in place for four (4) wire
load cell connection. (See Fig. 3-31)
•
Factory installed jumper must be removed for six (6) wire load cell
connection and all C2 installations. (See Fig. 3-30)
CAUTION
DO NOT RUN A LOAD CELL CABLE PARALLEL TO, OR IN THE SAME
CONDUIT WITH POWER WIRING.
CAUTION
NEVER SPLICE, SHORTEN OR CUT LOAD CELL CABLES.
•
Do not splice load cell cables.
•
If load cell cables are too long do not shorten the cable(s), coil the
excess cable and place it out of the way.
•
If load cables are too short, select an appropriate summing junction
box.
•
The HI 2160RC
PLUS
is capable of powering up to four, 350 ohm
load cells. When using more than four load cells, an external power
supply is required. Contact Hardy Customer Support for details.
NOTE:
Load cell wires carry very low voltage signals: ± 10VDC Excitation voltage and 0-
30mvdc Signal voltage. The load cell wires should be routed in their own conduit, if
possible, and away from the relay output wires and all other AC voltage lines to pre-
vent electrical induction and erratic weight indications.
•
The load cell cable shield should be grounded to the instrument
chassis and left open at the other end for optimum performance and
protection from electrical noise.
•
When using a summing junction board, connect the load cell cable
shield to the summing board, along with all of the cable shields
coming from each cell, so that all the shields are routed back to the
instrument chassis ground. Use Hardy's conductor C2 shielded
cable between the instrument and the summing junction board for
optimum performance. (See Fig. 3-30, 31, 32)
