Chapter 6 - Setup
6-41
•
In almost every application there is no requirement to change the
default setting. However, in cases where flow does not actually
occur until the output signal reaches a certain percentage of the
operating span, or when equipment damage might occur when rates
are set below the Control Out LO%, it is recommended the Control
Out LO% be set. The Control Out LO% is a low operating limit
where lower settings are not allowed. (See Fig. 6-35)

FIG. 6-35 CONTROL OUT% GRAPH
Step 1. To establish what the Control Out LO% setting should be, a
graph indicating the flow rate and output percentage (OP%)
must be prepared. This graph shows the operating characteris-
tics of a particular application.
Step 2. Click on the Set Pt. Button.
Step 3. Enter the Security Code Number.
Step 4. Press the Enter button. The Set Point Menu appears.
Step 5. Press the Select button to set the Rate to Manual.
Step 6. Press the Select button to set the Amount to Continuous.
Step 7. Press the Exit button to return to the Operating Display.
Step 8. Set the OP% for the application to either, .1%, 1% or 10%.
(See Chapter 5)
Step 9. Press the Start button to start the feeder.
Step 10. Press the up arrow
↑
button to increase the speed of the feeder
motor.
Step 11. Watch the feeder to see when actual dispensing first occurs
and not down the OP%. In Fig. 6-35 graph above, the actual
flow starts at about 26% of output span and the rate is about
3.6 lbs/m.
Step 12. Run the feeder completely through the operating range plot-
ting the rates at 10%, 20%, 30% etc. More will be said about
setting the Control Out HI% settings.
