Hanna Instruments reserves the right to modify the design, construction

WARRANTY
EC
and
TDS
are warranted for one year
against
defects in workmanship and materials when used for their intended
purpose and maintained according to instructions.
The probes are
warranted for a period of six months.
This warranty is limited to
repair or replacement free of charge.
Damages due to accident, misuse, tampering or lack of prescribed
maintenance are not covered.
If service is required, contact the dealer from whom you purchased the
instrument. If under warranty, report the model number, date of pur-
chase, serial number and the nature of the failure. If the repair is not
covered by the warranty, you will be notified of the charges incurred. If
the instrument is to be returned to Hanna Instruments, first obtain a
Returned Goods Authorization Number from the Customer Service de-
partment and then send it with shipment costs prepaid. When shipping
any instrument, make sure it is properly packaged for complete protec-
tion.
To validate your warranty, fill out and return the enclosed warranty card
within 14 days from the date of purchase.

Thank you for choosing a Hanna product. This manual will
provide you with the necessary information for a correct
operation. Please read it carefully before using the meter. If

These instruments are in compliance with the
directives.
Remove the instrument from the packing material and
examine it carefully. If any damage has occurred during
shipment, immediately notify your Dealer or the nearest
Hanna Customer Service Center.
The meters are supplied with:
• HI 7632 EC probe (HI 983302N );
• HI 7634 TDS probe (HI 983301N and HI 983301N/5);
• 1413 µS/cm calibration solution (20 mL) for HI 983302N;
• 1500 ppm calibration solution (20 mL) for HI 983301N;
• 1382 ppm calibration solution (20 mL) for HI 983301N/5;
• Calibration screwdriver;
• 12 VDC power adapter.
Note:
Conserve all packing material until the instrument
has been observed to function correctly. Any defective
item must be returned in its original packing.
PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
EC
and
TDS
are instruments specially de-
signed to meet the needs of growers in greenhouses hydroponic
applications. They are equipped with a large Liquid Crystal
Display for an easy reading also from distance.
You can simply hang the meter right above the sample to
be tested for continuous measurement and the unit will run
without interruption on 12 VDC power supply.
The housing has been completely sealed against vapors and
humidity.
The meters are supplied with a probe that automatically
compensates for the temperature variation. The probe is
easy to clean and requires little maintenance.
Measurements are highly accurate and the meters can be
calibrated at one point.
In addition, the two
TDS
use a specially
devised formula which perfectly reflects the needs of growers.
In fact, the common method of measuring Total Dissolved
Solids by multiplying the conductivity by a converting value
is far off the mark in horticulture with high concentrations of
phosphate, nitrogen, etc.
In the
HI 983301N
model the TDS factor is 0.7 while in the
HI 983301N/5
is 0.5.
