• Never charge frozen batteries.
• Never charge damaged or deformed batteries.
• Store out of the reach of children. The charger is not intended to be used by
persons (children or adults) with any form of functional disorders, or by persons
who do not have sufficient experience or knowledge on how to use it, unless
they have received instructions concerning the use of the charger by someone
who is responsible for their safety. Keep children under supervision to make
sure they do not play with the charger. Do not allow children to use, clean or
maintain the charger without supervision.
• Do not use the charger if the power cord is damaged. A damaged power cord
must be replaced by an authorised service centre, or other qualified person, to
ensure safe use.
• Never attempt to open the battery.
• Do not use the charger if the casing is damaged.
• Wear approved safety glasses and rubber safety gloves.
• Clean the battery terminals. Take care to avoid getting battery acid in your eyes.
• Lead-acid batteries with liquid electrolyte have covers on the cells containing
the plates and electrolyte. Follow the instructions of the battery manufacturer.
Fill each cell with distilled water up to the electrolyte level specified by the
battery manufacturer. This helps to ventilate gas from the cells. Do not overfill.
If the battery does not have cell covers, follow the battery manufacturer’s
charging instructions very carefully.
• Pay attention when connecting the charger. Connect the red clip (+) to positive
and the black clip (-) to negative. Never connect the clips with the reverse
polarity. Do not allow the clips to touch each other. Always unplug the power
cord from the mains before connecting or disconnecting the clips.
• Connect the battery terminal that is not connected to the chassis first. Connect
the other clip to the chassis, at a safe distance from the battery and the fuel
lines. Plug in the battery charger power cord.
• Unplug the power cord from the mains after charging. Disconnect the chassis
connection first, and then the battery connection.
