After making the necessary connections, follow the procedures below for powering on
your XK-5. Please be sure to adhere to the procedure, to prevent malfunction or damage.
PROCEDURES
1. Before switching the power ON, set the [MASTER VOLUME] knob to minimum.
NOTE: Hook up the foot controllers before power on, and do not step. This keyboard detects the
press on or o
ff
of the foot controllers when the powered on.
2. Switch ON the [POWER] (on the rear of this keyboard).

e Title mode and then
the Play mode are displayed (as illustrated).
For protecting the circuits, the keyboard is designed not to play immediately at the
power on (about 6 seconds).
3. Switch ON the connected ampli
fi
er etc.
Th
e Leslie speaker switches on automatically.
4. Touch [a Preset Key] - use any Preset Key from “C
” through “A.”
5. Holding down a key, adjust the [MASTER VOLUME] (and [EXT. LESLIE VOL-
UME]) by turning each knob.
The “C”, “A” and “B” Preset Keys normally do not produce sound when the keyboard
is
fi
rst turned “ON” and no Drawbars are out. Pull out the Drawbars, or press either
of the “C
” - “A” Preset Keys to start.
6. Adjust the volume of the ampli
fi
ers etc.
Reverse the above steps when you switch the power “OFF.” Also, be sure to switch
the power to a connected ampli
fi
er “OFF” before switching the keyboard “OFF.”

is keyboard “remembers” the unit’s status immediately be-
fore the power is turned o
ff
, returning the unit to that status
upon the next power-on.
Th
e status of the default settings are the same as when the [B]
Preset key is depressed.
RESET TO THE FACTORY SET-
TINGS
To reset all parameters of this keyboard to its default settings,
perform the following steps:

2. Switch the [POWER] ON while holding the [RECORD]
button.
3. Keep the button depressed until “
Loading

fault...
” is displayed.
4. When the Play mode is displayed, this operation is com-
pleted.
AUTO POWER OFF

e power automatically turns o

if this keyboard is not op-
erated for a certain period of time. (
Th
e default setting is 30
minutes.) It is called AUTO POWER OFF.
To cancel/set the AUTO POWER OFF function, see “SYS-
TEM” P. 113.
NOTE: Depending on the status of this unit, while editing, for ex-
ample, the power may not turn o
ff
, even if the set time of
AUTO POWER OFF elapses. So make sure to turn the “POWER”
switch OFF manually, after every use.
