Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Question 1. When I want to disconnect the USB device, the mes
-
sage "The device 'Generic data medium' cannot be disconnected
at present . Please try again later ." What can I do?
Answer:
Close all programs that may be accessing data on the device, includ-
ing Windows® Explorer . If this does not help, please close all the pro-
grams and wait another 20 seconds; then try to disconnect the USB
device again by clicking the green arrow . If that still doesn't help, switch
off the appliance and then disconnect the USB cable .
Question 2. File and folder names exist that I have not created, or
the names are some strange gibberish .
Answer:
The file allocation table (FAT) of the appliance has most probably been
corrupted . This can occur if the appliance is disconnected while read-
ing or writing from/to your computer via USB cable . Windows and Mac-
intosh often write separate files, such as finder.def or "Data medium
information of the system" on the hard disk. These are normal files and
do not represent a fault in your appliance .
