Warning: Only minor cosmetic repairs to the base are recommended.
Caution:
Always wear an ESD strap when working on the Shaker.
The clamp body bosses hold the clamp body in the neck of the Shaker. If the
Shaker sustains a blow or is dropped, one or more of the bosses may break free.
The clamp body bosses should be retained on the screws holding the clamp
body. Once located, they may be reattached to the Shaker using Loctite
®
3412.
Warning: Read and observe all safety information and precautions on the labels
of the adhesives and accelerators prior to use.
If all four of the clamp body bosses have been broken, return Shaker to
Haemonetics, or use as scrap.
1.
The clamp body bosses can be positioned by using the clamp body as a
jig. If only one of the clamp body bosses has been broken, the correct
placement for its reinstallation can be determined by screwing the clamp
body boss to the clamp body and installing the clamp body into the neck
of the Shaker.
Note: The screw holes in the clamp body bosses are concentric and the thickest
portion typically rests in the corner of the neck of the Shaker.
2.
Verify that the clamp body boss is rotated so that it is securely positioned
in the corner of the neck, and that all of the other clamp body boss screw
holes are aligned with their respective holes in the clamp body.
3.
Remove the clamp body and mark the position of the clamp body boss.
Remove the screw holding the clamp body boss in place. Remove any old
adhesive from the outside of the clamp body boss and the inside of the
neck of the Shaker with 220 grit sandpaper.
4.
Apply a small amount of Dow Corning
®
55 to a Q-tip
®
. Lightly coat all
surfaces of the clamp body in the vicinity of the clamp body boss to be
glued. The lubricant will act as a release agent in the event that some of
the adhesive should come in contact with the clamp body.
5.
Apply a small amount of Dow Corning 55 to the other end of the clamp
body boss and the exposed edge of the Shaker neck, using care not to ap-
ply lubricant on the sides of the clamp body boss, as the adhesive will not
bond properly to any area to which the Dow Corning is applied. Attach
the clamp body boss to the clamp body and align it with the mark made
earlier.
