Configuration Guide

Connecting the physical IRF ports
Follow these guidelines to connect the 10-GE/25-GE/40-GE/100-GE/400-GE ports between the IRF
member switches:
•
Use SFP+ transceiver modules and fibers or SFP+ DAC cables to connect SFP+ ports. SFP+
DAC cables are mainly used for short distance transmission.
•
Use SFP28 transceiver modules and fibers or SFP28 DAC cables to connect SFP28 ports.
SFP28 DAC cables are mainly used for short distance transmission.
•
Use QSFP+ transceiver modules and fibers or QSFP+ DAC cables to connect QSFP+ ports.
QSFP+ DAC cables are mainly used for short distance transmission.
•
Use QSFP28 transceiver modules and fibers or QSFP28 DAC cables to connect QSFP28 ports.
QSFP+ DAC cables are mainly used for short distance transmission.
•
Use QSFP-DD transceiver modules and fibers or QSFP-DD DAC cables to connect QSFP-DD
ports. QSFP-DD DAC cables are mainly used for short distance transmission.
•
When connecting SFP+ ports, connect the transmit port of the SFP+ transceiver module at one
end to the receive port of the SFP+ transceiver module at the other end.
•
The transceiver modules at the two ends of an IRF link must be the same type.
For more information about installing
transceiver
modules,
see
"Installing an
SFP+/SFP/SFP28/QSFP+/QSFP28/QSFP-DD transceiver module." For more information about
connecting fibers, see "Connecting the switch to the network."

Verifying the IRF fabric configuration
After you finish configuring basic IRF settings and connecting IRF ports, verify the basic functionality
of the IRF fabric, as follows:
1.
Log in to the IRF fabric through the console port of any member switch.
2.
Create a Layer 3 interface, assign it an IP address, and make sure the IRF fabric and the
remote network management station can reach each other.
3.
Use Telnet or SNMP to access the IRF fabric from the network management station. (See
H3C
S12500G-AF
Switch Series Fundamentals Configuration Guide
.)
4.
Verify that you can manage all member switches as if they were one node.
5.
Display the running status of the IRF fabric by using the commands in
